why?
I’m an investor by profession, previously part of one of the UK’s most-awarded fund management teams and currently building and managing something new and exciting (I think so, anyway).
It’s a job that depends on good decision making and solving complex problems, which is why I’ve studied loads of material across many subjects. This helped greatly with the day job, but, after my second baby encountered health problems (thankfully minor and long since solved), I realised this stuff is useful in the real world too (and in a way that’s not widely appreciated). So I’ve committed to going deeper into the world of tough problems, and sharing what I find here.
So this is about solving problems. Not esoteric, mathsy problems, but real-life problems that may, right now, be making your life a bit shittier. Or a lot shittier. Maybe that’s a personal problem, or something that’s bugging you about society. I’m into both, and everything in between. I hope something you read here may help you to solve a gnarly problem or, if not, make peace with it. Often that’s just as good.
